When the lights are on at weekends, Erich Kaisersede, the general manager of Conrad Shenyang, comes to the cafeteria on the 88th floor to inspect the reception of the dinner. The Mexican Food Festival is being held here. Kaisersede is delighted to watch the guests enjoy Mexican food such as taco and Tortilla soup while overlooking the beautiful scenery of the city.

Kaisersede, an Austrian, has worked hard in the hotel industry for more than 30 years, travelling all over China, Indonesia and Singapore. As a professional manager, he came to Shenyang five years ago with entrepreneurial passion and was fully responsible for the overall operation and management of Conrad Shenyang. Over the years, he has witnessed the development and changes of Shenyang, as well as the growing consumption and increasing international menu of Shenyang people. Tasting world food in international hotels has become one of the lifestyles for ordinary people.

In the past year, Southeast Asian Food Festival, Mexican Food Festival and Italian Food Festival were held and turned out extremely popular. “Liaoning people are having higher life quality and better sense of ritual, and enjoying fine food in high-end hotels is becoming more popular.” Kaisersede said. In conjunction with catering activities with different themes, Kaisersede also tried to move the “art gallery”into the restaurant, displaying copies of famous Italian paintings around the restaurant to create a strong artistic atmosphere. At the same time, he also introduces afternoon tea themed with famous paintings so that guests could enjoy the food culture of various countries, which is popular with many consumers. He said, “The growing demand on international catering service in Liaoning reflects people’s pursuit of a better quality of life.”

“If you want to integrate the catering culture of the world into the local catering culture perfectly, you need to understand and respect the local culture.” Kaisersede said. In his spare time, Kaisersede takes his family to walk around the cultural places such as Shenyang Imperial Palace, Shenyang Industrial Cultural and Creative Park to draw inspiration from history and culture. He loves Liaoning cuisine very much. He thinks there are some similarities between Liaoning and Austrian cuisine, so he also tries to combine “international style” with“Liaoning flavor”to introduce more dishes favorable among people.

Kaisersede fell in love with Shenyang and Liaoning with more time spending here. Recently, he is applying for a Chinese “green card” to become a citizen of Shenyang, so he can continue to expand the food map of Liaoning people, and experience the changes, innovativeness and goodness of Liaoning while enjoying the international “taste”.
