Liaoning-Born Pianist Lang Lang Embarks on His 2023 International Tour

Lang Lang, a pianist from Liaoning, has always had a huge market for his music overseas and is a preferred regular guest soloist at the opening concerts of world-renowned orchestras. In partnership with the super classical orchestra, Lang Lang’s 2023 global tour is about to start with a very busy schedule. It is reported that in every concert, Lang Lang will incorporate a Chinese piece in the return session, hoping to promote Chinese culture to every corner of the world.

Lang Lang, born in Shenyang, Liaoning Province in 1982, graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music and is the first Chinese pianist employed by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and the Big Five symphony orchestras of the United States.

In February, Lang Lang’s first solo recital will take place at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. After that, he will present a different kind of musical carnival with performances at Stanford University, Radio City Music Hall in New York, the Los Angeles Music Center and Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, the San Francisco Philharmonic Orchestra and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

In June, Lang Lang will also perform the magnificent movements from Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.3 and Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No.2 at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Royal Concert Hall in Amsterdam, the Golden Hall of the Vienna, the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, the Elbe Philharmonic Hall in Hamburg, the Frankfurt Old Opera House and the Munich Concert Hall. With a seating capacity of more than 20,000, the Berlin Philharmonic in the Waldbühne will also host Lang Lang’s piano recital for the fifth time this summer.

In the second half of the year, Lang Lang will give Disney specials. Classic music from animated films such as Mulan, Aladdin, and Coco will be performed at the Berlin Philharmonic in the Waldbühne, Roman Forum, the Paris Seine Art Center, the Verona Arena, the Barcelona Town Hall, the Athens Amphitheatre, etc. In October, Lang Lang will be on stage at Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Albert Hall in London.

It is worth mentioning that in China, South Korea and Japan, Lang Lang will once again work with the Vienna Philharmonic, as well as maestros Tugan Sokhiev and Franz Welser-Möst to re-enact the famous “Sound of Vienna”.
