Sandpiper Returning Home

As the weather gets warmer and warmer, large numbers of sandpipers are migrating back to the Damaike wetland in Anshan City, Liaoning Province. There are more than ten species of sandpipers, including oyster catchers, black-winged long-legged sandpipers, little curlews, red shanks and tringa ochropus. Sandpipers vary in shapes. There are 77 species in China, making them one of the most diverse and numerous wading birds. They have a strong ability of migrating and flying. Apart from the breeding season, they are often found in flocks on lakes, marshes and beaches.
