Xiuyan Jade Carving, listed as national intangible cultural heritage, is a local traditional artistic form of Xiuyan Manchu Autonomous County in Liaoning Province. Xiuyan, known as “the home town of jade”, is famous both at home and abroad for its exquisite and pure jade in abundance. Xiuyan Jade Carving mainly consists of small items in different shapes, including antique vessels, figures, flowers, birds, and other animals. The works, mainly three-dimensional sculptures and relief, are created with different techniques of carving. Most works of Xiuyan Jade Carving are in ancient and simple designs, with focus on balanced and stable structure, so as to show the reserve of traditional Chinese aesthetic judgment.
