Wolong Lake Wetland: The Highest Single-day Observation Record of Waterbirds Exceeding 150,000

Shenyang Wolong Lake Provincial Nature Reserve is located in Kangping County, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, which is the only provincial- level wetland nature reserve in Shengyang. The Wolong Lake Wetland Nature Reserve is located on the East Asian- Australasian Flyway, one of the eight major bird migration flyways in the world. It is an important resting area for migratory birds in East Asia.

Every year, during the spring and autumn migratory seasons, 279 species of waterbirds will rest, build nests and breed here. Among them are many rare bird species, such as siberian crane, red- crowned crane, hooded crane, white- naped crane, common crane, oriental white stork, whooper swan, gray heron, swan goose, baer's pochard and so forth. The population and species of aterbirds have increased year by year. The highest single-day observation record of waterbirds has exceeded 150,000.
