Panjin City, Liaoning Province is an important stopover for migratory birds in China. It enjoys the largest seaside reed wetland in the world and is on the migratory route for birds between East Asia and Australasia, with more than 1 million waterbirds resting or breeding here every year. It is the breeding ground for the largest species of Saunders’ gull around the world, an important stopover for red-crowned crane migrating between the south and north, and its northernmost habitat to live through the winter.
