“Jiaolong out of Sea” Exhibited at Shenyang Palace Museum
2024-03-26

The Shenyang Palace Museum is now exhibiting the Blue-and-White Porcelain Tray with Red Loong Patterns (entitled “Jiaolong out of Sea”) from the Yongzheng Period of the Qing Dynasty, which is a national first-class cultural relic. The nine red loongs on the tray are all vivid and lifelike, with their heads either raised forward, or turning back to look around. They seem to soar among clouds and mist, in different shapes and sizes, and full of strength. The center of the front side of the tray has the bottom color of blue and white, and the red loong in it has a robust body, with its claws waving and its eyes wide open, as if it just leapt out of the sea.

Apart from the porcelain tray, visitors can also appreciate the superb manufacturing techniques of the blue-and-white iron-red porcelain from the Qing Dynasty, as well as the porcelain treasures created during the Yongzheng Period, when the technique reached its peak.
