Herons Dance Gracefully in Spring
2024-04-14

As spring returns, everything revives with glory. In the Heron Nature Reserve of Sujiayingzi Village, Chaoyang County, Liaoning Province, over 800 herons are nesting to live. They forage and frolic, hover and chase each other in the air, or stand lightly on the branches from time to time, like interacting with nature. Herons have “settled” in Sujiayingzi Village for hundreds of years, for the village is surrounded by mountains and rivers, and its scenery is beautiful and pleasing, with sufficient small fish in the rivers to meet their foraging needs. Every year before and after Jingzhe (or the Waking of Insects, the 3rd solar term in Chinese 24 solar terms), numerous herons migrate here, and around Liqiu (or the Beginning of Autumn, the 13th solar term), they gradually return to the south, taking their birdlings along. Now, they have become a shining name card of the local eco-tourism.
