The Royal Economic Society of the UK recently invited Professor Yu Miaojie, president of Liaoning University, to serve as associate editor of The Economic Journal, one of the world’s top journals in economics. This is the first time that the journal has invited an economist working in Asia to hold this important position, marking that the quality of Chinese economic research has been highly recognized by the international academic community.

Founded in 1891, The Economic Journal is one of the longest-standing and most influential academic journals in the field of economics in the world, and is also the founding journal of modern economics. Standing firm at the forefront of economic research, and leading the development direction of economics, the journal provides a significant academic platform in promoting the development of global economic research.

Most of the current editorial board members of The Economic Journal come from world-class universities such as Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Oxford University. Professor Yu Miaojie will be responsible for the reviewing and acceptance of papers related to Chinese economic research. This designation is not only a recognition of his personal academic ability and academic contribution, but also an honor for the Chinese economics community. It further demonstrates the ever-increasing status and influence of Chinese economics research in the international academic community, which is conducive to better telling China’s story and spreading China’s voice.
