From November 22 to 23, the Fourth “Experiencing China·Charming Liaoning” Foreign Students’ Trip to Liaoning was successfully held in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province. A total of 40 Chinese and foreign students from Hübschmann·Zhan School (Shenyang) and the Secondary Music School Affiliated to Shenyang Conservatory of Music participated in the event.
The Chinese and foreign students visited Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Laobeishi Chinese Character Theme Study. They also watched the “German-Chinese Encounters” piano concert, and attended a piano master class. Through the various activities, the two sides deepened cultural exchanges.
In the Laobeishi Chinese Character Theme Study, the students learned about the structures and probed the mystery of Chinese characters amid the antique green bricks and black tiles, and fell in love with Chinese characters. At Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, they watched Wu Qin Xi (or the Five Animal Frolics, a set of exercises in traditional Chinese medicine), distinguished and ground Chinese medicinal herbs, made moxa sticks (made from dried mugwort herbs to heat acupoints), and understood and experienced acupuncture and tuina (a form of Chinese therapeutic massage), immersing themselves in the charm of traditional Chinese medicine culture. At the “German-Chinese Encounters” piano concert, the noted German pianist Caroline Fischer played Chinese and foreign masterpieces such as Colorful Clouds Chasing the Moon, presenting a memorable musical feast for these students.
This event offered opportunities for the Chinese and foreign students to deepen mutual understanding and enhance friendship while feeling the glamor of traditional Chinese medicine, admiring the essence of traditional Chinese character culture, and experiencing the fusion of Chinese and foreign music. It also built a solid emotional foundation for the Chinese and foreign youth, and highlighted the resonance between Chinese and foreign cultures.
