Beijing, Lanzhou, and Shenyang are the three main Dunhuang dance teaching centers in China. Recently, a Dunhuang Dance Teaching Achievement Exhibition was held in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, providing a visual feast for the audience.
The exhibition featured wonderful solo and group dances such as “Deer King Jataka Painting” and “Flying Apsaras”, choreographed by Yang Yueqing, a teacher from the Dance Academy of Shenyang Conservatory of Music.
Dunhuang dance, a Chinese classical dance, is derived from Dunhuang murals and boasts unique aesthetic value. Dancers, by studying the dance postures depicted in the murals, have linked the static postures into dynamic dance sequences. Performers present the exquisite artistic charm of Chinese Dunhuang dance through details such as posture, hand gestures, and eye expressions.
