Bathed in the brilliant spring sunshine and caressed by the gentle sea breeze, the Panjin Liaohe River Estuary National Nature Reserve in Liaoning Province comes alive with thousands of black-and-white pied avocets. These birds rest and forage on the tidal flats near the estuary of the Liaohe River. When they take flight, myriads of them seem to blot out the sky, presenting a breathtaking spectacle.
