The work and life of Frenchman Stephane Ernoult, B2C Activity Manager at Michelin Shenyang Tire Company Ltd., constitute a unique chapter in the “Liaoning Story”... He not only uses his expertise to introduce Michelin tires from Liaoning to the world, but has also integrated himself into life in Liaoning through running.
As a professional manager at the factory, Stephane has witnessed the upgrading and transformation of Liaoning’s manufacturing industry. “I feel proud to work in this land with such a high level of intelligent manufacturing, and such a great spirit of craftsmanship.” The tires he is responsible for producing are shipped from the Shenyang factory to the world, and in his daily work, the experience of Sino-French teams working together to overcome difficulties has also deepened his understanding of the professionalism and enterprising spirit of the Liaoning team. “The technical team here has a very strong learning ability, and we have solved challenges together. So I’m very confident in ‘Liaoning Intelligent Manufacturing’.”
Running is another way for Stephane to experience Shenyang. As morning sunlight bathes the Hunhe River, and gentle breezes waft through Qipan Mountain, he takes off his work clothes, and puts on running shoes, to enjoy running with local runners. “Running is the best way for me to get to know Shenyang, and connect with its people.” From a complete stranger to an amiable “bro” who now greets his running club mates in simple Northeastern Chinese dialect, running has not only improved his physical health, but also strengthened his emotional bonds with this land.
His children now study Chinese, and have made many friends at school in Shenyang. Guobaorou (crispy sweet and sour pork), and Chinese sauerkraut dumplings have also become part of their family meals. Moreover, every weekend, Stephane and his family go to the local markets to experience authentic Northeastern life. Now, Shenyang has been transformed from an assigned work location into his “home”, a place that holds the memories of his entire family’s growth and happiness.
