Boosted by the combined effect of the spring break, the Liaoning Provincial Museum saw surging popularity during the May Day holiday. From May 1 to May 5, the museum received a total of 127,300 visitors. Among them, visitors from within the province accounted for 33.4%, while those from outside the province made up 66.6%. On May 2, the museum received 33,199 visitors in a single day, setting a new all-time record. The online lectures launched during the holiday were livestreamed on multiple platforms, garnering over 25,000 views.

To facilitate visitors from different regions, during the May Day holiday, the Liaoning Provincial Museum implemented a no-reservation admission policy and extended its opening hours. The no-reservation policy not only provided convenience for visitors but also helped bridge the distance between the public and the museum. The extended opening hours were not merely about prolonging the visiting time; they broadened the scope and depth of the museum’s cultural services. The staff canteen was also opened to visitors to provide the public with free hot and cold drinking water as well as luggage storage services. These visitor-friendly measures received widespread praise from all sectors of society.

The exhibitions launched on the eve of the May Day holiday — “Co-Creating the New Era: 2026 Exhibition of Excellent Artworks From China National Arts Fund-Supported Projects” and “Emblems of Virtue: Exhibition of Plaque Artifacts” — became major draws for visitors. Permanent displays such as “Ancient Liaoning” and “The Manchu Folkways” served as windows for out-of-town visitors to understand Liaoning’s history and culture. “The Glamour of the Tang and Song Dynasties” digital art gallery presented holiday activities such as “Half-Price Kids’ Pass” and “Free Lucky Draws”, offering visitors a heartfelt package of visitor perks.

Over the years, the museum has deeply cultivated public welfare cultural and museum services, providing warmhearted support for diverse groups. This holiday, the museum held the first round of its 2026 free public appraisal and consultation service for private collections of cultural relics, featuring a porcelain specialty session. It also organized volunteer-guided tours, the “Meet the National Treasures” family program, and the “Radiant Crabapple Patterns: Crafts of the Silver Generation”, the museum senior handicraft workshop series. From young children to the elderly, from local residents to tourists from afar, the museum strives to ensure that everyone who walks through its doors departs with something rewarding.

Drawing on Liaoning’s abundant cultural resources, the museum actively created new scenarios for holiday cultural tourism consumption. Joining hands with the Liaoning People’s Art Theatre and the Liaoning Electro-acoustic Orchestra, the museum presented “Golden Times: Classic Hits Musical Talk Show”. The performance featured talented singers delivering a string of beloved classics, drawing a large and enthusiastic audience. Additionally, it staged an original children’s sitcom, “National-Treasure Adventures at Liaoning Provincial Museum” and set up the “Intangible Cultural Heritage Market”, allowing visitors to celebrate the holiday inside the museum, and experience the perfect fusion of ancient culture and modern life.
