On May 9, the Liaoning-Russian Far East Economic and Trade Exchange Conference was held in Shenyang, Liaoning.
Northeast China’s Liaoning Province and Russia are traditional friendly economic and trade partners with close exchanges and deep foundations. They have practical exchanges in equipment manufacturing, logistics, agriculture, and other fields. Besides, they have a highly complementary relationship and great potential in such areas as energy, forestry, minerals, and fisheries. In 2022, the bilateral trade volume between China and Russia reached 190.272 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 29.3%, while Liaoning’s import and export trade volume with Russia amounted to 35.907 billion yuan, accounting for 2.7% of the bilateral trade volume, up 25% year-on-year.
Liaoning boasts a complete range of industries, numerous universities and vocational schools, distinct regional advantages, and abundant natural resources. It is an important pillar of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, a significant window for the northward opening-up of the Belt and Road Initiative, and a frontier region for China to connect with Northeast Asia and communicate with the Eurasian Land Bridge. Over the years, Liaoning has continuously promoted the optimization and upgrading of foreign trade, focused on building a new opening-up pattern, and actively participated in the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor. Liaoning has been engaged in increasingly frequent exchanges and close cooperation with the Russian business community. Hosting the Economic and Trade Exchange Conference is a pragmatic move to promote Liaoning’s high-quality integration into the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, advance the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, and expand high-level opening-up. It will promote trade cooperation between Liaoning and Russian enterprises on a larger scale, in broader fields, and at higher levels.
The conference is attended by 110 Liaoning enterprises, including 15 chairmen and 41 general managers. They conduct docking exchanges with Russian enterprises on procurement and cooperation intentions in electrolyte-enhanced nonwoven fabrics, packaging materials, engineering vehicles for cement production, crushing and screening equipment, iron ore mining and processing, plastic molds, machine tools, and other fields.
The delegation of business enterprises from four Russian oblasts is invited by CCPIT Liaoning Sub-Council to visit Liaoning. It has attended the 3rd Invest in Liaoning Conference and the 5th Annual Meeting of the Association of Foreign Businesses in Liaoning held in Dalian from May 10 to 11, and will visit Changxing Island of Dalian, Yingkou, and other places.
