Many of Liaoning dishes are Manchu dishes, or developed from them. In today’s Liaoning Province, there are lots of people who still retain the Manchu dietary habits. It can be said that most Manchu specialties have become a significant part of Liao cuisine, ranging from the palace dishes represented by the Manchu-Han Imperial Feast to suziye bobo (sticky steamed buns wrapped with perilla leaves), nian doubao (sticky steamed buns with red bean paste filling), and xiaoji dun mogu (chicken stewed with mushrooms) that are loved by the common people. Liaoning’s unique natural conditions and social customs have brought out various special food ingredients, thus creating the unique Manchu cuisine, and also raising generations of Liaoning people who are bold and sincere, with distinctive personalities.
