“This is the first regular route to Germany opened by domestic airlines in Northeast China, and also the first direct route to Europe opened by the northern branch of China Southern Airlines in Shenyang.” Recently, the northern branch of China Southern Airlines held a briefing in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, announcing that starting from April 25, China Southern Airlines will officially launch a flight route from Shenyang to Frankfurt, providing direct flights from Shenyang to Central Europe. This comes after the official opening of the regular direct passenger air route between Shenyang and Moscow on February 28, another new international air route opened in Liaoning.
Currently, China is the EU’s largest trading partner, the largest source of imports, and the third-largest export market. More than 5,000 German companies are developing in China. Germany is a major source of foreign investment in Liaoning and an important trading partner, with nearly 200 German companies achieving good development in Liaoning. China Southern Airlines has chosen Frankfurt, home to Germany’s largest aviation hub, as the new aviation destination for this route, creating an intercontinental long-haul route spanning East and West. This will further expand the economic and trade exchanges and cultural exchanges between Liaoning Province, even the three northeastern provinces of China, and Central Europe, serving as a landmark in facilitating regional economic development and promoting complementary advantages and cooperative exchanges between the two regions.
According to reports, China Southern Airlines’ Shenyang-Frankfurt route will be operated every Thursday by Airbus A350-900 wide-body aircraft capable of accommodating 313 passengers. The flight duration is about 11 hours, shortening travel time by over 5 hours compared to various connecting routes.
