Zhangzidao Island boasts excellent geographical conditions and abundant sea fishing resources. The island’s reefs are densely interspersed, and there is a rich variety of fish species, with nearly a hundred types present, more than 20 of which are suitable for fishing. In recent years, artificial reefs have been gradually deployed, creating a dedicated fishing area of 20,000 mu, establishing it as a unique “sea fishing paradise” in the Changshan Islands. Currently, there are seven sea fishing clubs and more than 70 fishing vessels, along with a professional and standardized fishing service team. Various fishing competitions are held here annually, attracting a large number of fishing enthusiasts to this paradise for angling and recreation.
Presently, the Changhai fishing brand has become the first choice for sea fishing tourists in northeast China, and it is designated as the fishing area for international sea fishing competitions. Zhangzidao Island has been recognized as a Chinese sea fishing base, one of the top ten leisure bases for lure fishing in China, a national-level demonstration base for recreational fisheries, and the designated professional fishing site for national sea fishing competitions. It is lovingly referred to by anglers as the “Northern Sea Fishing Mecca” and the “Top Destination for Sea Fishing in the North”.
The waters around Zhangzidao Island remain ice-free all year round, with fishing seasons continuously throughout the year, allowing for seamless access for fishing enthusiasts. Starting from April each year, anglers can set sail for sea fishing at Zhangzidao Island. In April, one can catch species such as stone flounder, olive flounder, snakehead, yellow croaker, goosefish, and Azuma emmnion; in May, there are codfish; in June, yellowtail kingfish; in July, there are sea bass and mackerel; in August, eel, dolphin fish, and chub mackerel can be found… Even in December, which is already winter, you will not return empty-handed.
