Nigerian international student Farouk arrives at the Hu Kuizhang Chinese Calligraphy Brush Workshop in Shenyang to learn how to write the Chinese character “Fu” from a calligraphy teacher.

With red paper spread out and the fragrance of ink filling the air, Farouk carefully mimics the teacher’s brush strokes, immersing himself in the joy and peace of the Spring Festival. The lanterns and spring couplets hanging around make Farouk deeply intoxicated by the unique charm of the Chinese New Year.

Under the teacher’s attentive guidance, Farouk finally completes his own character “Fu”, which embodies his yearning for a better life and wishes for good fortune in the coming year. With great joy, he joins everyone in celebrating this hopeful Chinese New Year.
