As an important cultural relic collection unit in China, the Liaoning Provincial Museum has always been committed to inheriting and promoting excellent traditional Chinese culture, seeing its mission as meeting the people’s growing spiritual and cultural needs. On the occasion of this year’s International Museum Day, the museum joins hands with the Dunhuang Academy to jointly plan and host the special exhibition Affinity of Mountains and Seas·Echoes of the Desert Sands—Meeting Dunhuang in Liaoning. This exhibition has been selected as a promotion project of “Reading China in Museums: Promoting Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture and Cultivating Socialist Core Values” of China’s State Administration of Cultural Heritage.

During the exhibition Affinity of Mountains and Seas·Echoes of the Desert Sands—Meeting Dunhuang in Liaoning, the Liaoning Provincial Museum will hold a series of lectures on Liaoning and Dunhuang, entitled “Dialogue with History·Decoding the Civilization”. On May 18, Zhang Yuanlin, deputy director of the Dunhuang Academy, will be invited to deliver a lecture titled “Witness Through Images: Cultural Integration of Dunhuang and Regions Along the Silk Road”. Through this exhibition and relevant academic activities, the Liaoning Provincial Museum and Dunhuang Academy will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, further promoting the scholarly spirit of Dunhuang, and spreading Dunhuang culture.
