In the sweltering summer heat, international students usher in graduation season. On the campus of Shenyang Jianzhu University, students gather in small groups, taking photos and recording videos of one another, capturing these precious moments. In front of the university’s landmark buildings, by the lakeside where swans glide, they wave their arms and cheer: “We’ve graduated!”

What differentiates them is that some of these international students have chosen to pursue further studies in Shenyang, while others are about to return to their home countries, ready to apply the knowledge they have gained in China to build their hometowns. What unites them, however, is a deep affection for China and for their alma mater. The graduates’ gratitude toward Shenyang Jianzhu University is written all over their faces.

Laurent, an international student from Chad, has been studying at Shenyang Jianzhu University for eight years. During this period, he has not only acquired professional knowledge but also, through an approach that integrates theory with practice, conducted in-depth research on ancient Chinese architecture. “After graduation, I want to take the professional knowledge I’ve learned in China back to Chad and help build my homeland.” Laurent said.

WU CHUANMEI, a South Korean international student, has already applied to pursue a doctoral degree at Shenyang Jianzhu University. During her three years at Shenyang Jianzhu University, she has gained a wealth of cross-cultural knowledge, formed sincere friendships, and gotten to know classmates from all over the world. “I am so grateful for the care and affection my teachers and classmates have shown me! I love Shenyang Jianzhu University! I love Shenyang! I love China!” said WU CHUANMEI.
