Weibo Government Affairs, in conjunction with the School of Journalism of Fudan University, recently released the “Outstanding Cases of Government Affairs Weibo in the First Half of 2026”. The official Weibo account of the Liaoning Provincial Museum has been selected as a case in the “AI Integration” section.
This case collection initiative featured eight awards: “Government Transparency”, “Government Services”, “Rapid Response”, “Outstanding Primary-Level”, “Innovative Applications and Communication”, “Positive Energy Promotion”, “AI Integration”, and “Influential Videos”. Open to government affairs Weibo accounts nationwide, it received over 1,000 submissions. Following expert review, 164 outstanding cases were selected, covering various government affairs sectors including cyberspace administration, fire fighting, and culture and tourism. These cases showcased the positive practices and responsible commitment of government affairs Weibo accounts in authoritative information publicity, public service responses, city image promotion, and social consensus buildup.
The Liaoning Provincial Museum’s new media department launched “Viewing Liaoning Provincial Museum’s Cultural Relics Through ‘Perler Beads’”, using AI-generated content to transform the museum’s artifacts into short, engaging videos fusing popular Perler bead pixel art to vividly recreate the artifacts’ characteristics. This was integrated with Weibo’s AI-driven cultural and creative topics, and distributed in collaboration with the platform’s official museum and history accounts. The videos garnered widespread exposure on Weibo, reaching 1.04 million views and significantly increasing interaction, and further generating a second wave of communication and achieving cross-field and cross-platform reach. The content combines entertainment with professionalism, completely preserving the characteristics of the artifacts while actively exploring online engagement and pathways for offline hands-on study tours. This practice fully demonstrates the empowering value of AI for cultural relics and museums.
