Recently, the Pulse Bazaar – the second season of the Jiangsu Cuisine Culture Carnival kicked off in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. Delicate Jiangsu flavors meet the vibrant street vibe of Liaoning, bringing local residents an immersive cultural feast featuring northern and southern Chinese cuisines.

This carnival gathers delicacies of 13 cities from Jiangsu Province, drawing visitors from all 14 cities of Liaoning Province to sample the treats. Linked by food, the two provinces forge a timeless bond of friendship.

The Pulse Bazaar boasts exquisite ancient-style decor. Neatly arranged stalls draw huge crowds. A wide array of signature dishes is on display, including Yangzhou fried rice, Nanjing duck blood vermicelli soup and Changzhou sesame cake. The soup dumplings burst with juice at the first bite, pastries are wonderfully soft, and broths deliver rich, savoury flavors — all showcasing the delicate, sweet character unique to Jiangsu cuisine.

The mild, subtle flavors of Jiangnan (the area south of the lower Yangtze River) create a wonderful contrast with the bold, hearty tastes of Northeast China. Residents can savour cuisines from both the north and south in one stop without leaving Liaoning.
