In October 1934, the school embarked on the Long March with the Red Army. Carrying heavy loads, teachers and students treated the wounded as they marched and used every pause along the route to continue their lessons, turning their packs into makeshift blackboards. During the march, Wang Bin, Li Zhi, Sun Yizhi, and others successfully treated the gravely ill Zhou Enlai, achieving a remarkable feat of battlefield medicine. Throughout the arduous journey, the school never ceased teaching, and its sixth class graduated successfully along the way. In doing so, it created an unparalleled chapter in the history of medical education under the Communist Party of China and in the People’s Army.
