Recently, the Conference on the Release of Reports and Expert Consultations for Monitoring and Evaluating Innovative Cities in China was held in Beijing. The Ministry of Science and Technology released the Report on Monitoring of the Innovation Capability of Innovative Cities in China (2022). The Institute of Scientific and Technological Information of China issued the Report on Evaluation of the Innovation Capability of Innovative Cities in China (2022).
Dalian and Shenyang are among the top 20 in the evaluation of the innovation capability of innovative cities, and ranked 17th and 18th respectively, while Yingkou is ranked 91st. The top 10 cities in order of ranking are: Shenzhen, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Xi’an, Suzhou, Changsha, Hefei and Qingdao.
It is mentioned that this year marks the fourth release of this series of reports. Due to the availability of data and comparability between cities and urban areas, the Report on Monitoring of the Innovation Capability of Innovative Cities in China (2022) evaluates the innovation capability of 97 prefecture-level and sub-provincial innovative cities in total. At the same time, the report also releases a list of the top 100 cities in terms of innovation capability in China, in which Dalian and Shenyang are ranked 21st and 22nd.
