It is wonderful to encounter black-winged stilts, common snipes and other snipe birds in the drizzle. The Baishahe River Park in Shenyang, Liaoning sees snipes sometimes swooping down to forage and sometimes fluttering and flying with their wings, picturesque and dreamy in misty rain. The snipe, a waterside bird with 218 species worldwide and 77 species in China, belongs to a small to medium-sized wading bird with the largest variety and quantity. They have long or short beaks that vary in form, and are often found in flocks or mixed flocks in lakes, marshes, sandbanks, beaches and so on. Endowed with a strong ability to fly and migrate, snipes are of great ecological significance as an important part of the world’s wetlands .
