The much-anticipated traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) culture night market reopened in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province. On the evening of September 8, the TCM Culture Night Market Medicinal Paste Event kicked off grandly at the Shenyang Olympic Sports Center.
The night market was thronged with visitors, especially enthusiastic Shenyang residents. Amid the bustling crowds, many foreign nationals also delved into the enchanting TCM culture. “I heard that Liaoning’s TCM culture night market not long ago was very lively and unique, so I came here today to take a look.” Barieva, an international student from Russia, was very interested in every stall of the night market, and squeezed through crowds to watch TCM masters feel the pulse and prescribe medicine.
At the traditional therapy tuina (traditional Chinese massage) booth, Barieva received a free consultation from a TCM master, and a tuina on her cervical spine and waist after the consultation. “Wow, this makes me feel so comfortable. The sore parts of my body were relieved at once.” Barieva said excitedly after the tuina. “I really love tuina. It is also very popular in Russia. Today’s experience is really great.”
Apart from the international friends who came to visit the night market, a group of “foreign TCM doctors” also got involved in the event. Nkrumah Seth, a Ghanaian international student from Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, offered free medical consultations to visitors. He was surprised and stimulated by the long queues of people. “This is my first time participating in this year’s night market events. Before I came here, I doubted if any visitors would consult a foreign TCM doctor for medical treatment. But when I see so many people queuing up to consult me, I’m really delighted.” Seth said in excitement. “Many visitors give a thumbs-up to the ‘foreign doctors’ like me. I feel our learning achievements at Liaoning University of TCM are recognized by so many people, which is also the greatest encouragement for us.”
In addition to TCM diagnosis and treatment, various activities such as TCM cultural experience, TCM cultural creative product display, and medicinal food and tea appreciation were also launched, captivating many foreign visitors to come and experience.
