On April 25, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held the seventeenth press conference of the series titled “Making Breakthroughs for Revitalization, and Striving for Decisive Achievements”, presenting the important plans, major tasks, and specific measures conducted by the Health Commission of Liaoning Province.
In recent years, Liaoning has actively pursued the establishment of a national medical center, with smooth progress in the construction of the National Oncology Regional Medical Center and the National Children’s Regional Medical Center. The province has further enhanced its comprehensive childcare service capacity, reaching over 160,000 childcare slots by the end of 2024. Additionally, 1,646 medical institutions have been accredited as age-friendly for seniors.
Liaoning will take further steps to promote the construction of the National Oncology Regional Medical Center and the National Children’s Regional Medical Center. Liaoning will also launch a four-tier clinical key-specialty network covering national, provincial, municipal, and county levels, adding at least 100 new key specialties this year across provincial, municipal, and county hospitals.
Liaoning will implement the “Year of Pediatric and Mental Health Services” initiative. By the end of the year, all secondary and tertiary public general hospitals, maternal and child health hospitals, and over 90% of primary healthcare institutions in the province must provide pediatric services. Each city will have at least one hospital offering dedicated mental-health and sleep clinics.
The province is committed to raising public awareness of chronic disease prevention through themed campaigns such as the Patriotic Health Month, Healthy Sleep Promotion, and Tobacco Control Initiatives. It will deepen the “Weight Management Year” initiative. Tertiary general hospitals, children’s hospitals, and traditional Chinese medicine hospitals will be encouraged to open healthy weight management clinics offering weight-control programs and obesity diagnosis and treatment services.
