2025-05-06

During this year’s May Day holiday, Liaoning Provincial Museum welcomed a total of around 118,000 visits, an increase of 43.81% over the same period last year, of which 66.4% were from outside Liaoning Province, and 33.6% were from within the province. The top five sources of visits from outside the province were: Heilongjiang Province, Jilin Province, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Hebei Province, and Shandong Province. Within the province, the top five sources other than Shenyang City were: Dalian City, Anshan City, Tieling City, Jinzhou City, and Yingkou City. On May 2, the museum received 32,261 visits, setting a new high single-day record since its establishment.

To cope with the explosive growth of visitor flow during this year’s May Day holiday, Liaoning Provincial Museum launched corresponding measures to ensure the safety of visitors to the exhibitions, such as setting up crowd control barricades at the entrance, and increasing the number of volunteers to provide timely support for visitors. Furthermore, museum services, including luggage storage, information consultation, and on-site explanations, were fully optimized to enhance comfort for visitors.

To present visitors with a rich and diverse cultural feast, the museum displayed multiple themed exhibitions during the May Day holiday. Cultural exhibitions, such as “China in Bamboo and Wooden Slips: Exhibition of Exquisite Han Dynasty Discoveries from Gansu” and “She Walks in Beauty: Women in Classical Roman Time”, drew a mass of visitors. Empowered by digital technology, immersive exhibitions, such as “Exploring the Han Dynasty Haihun Fief” and “Splendor of Tang and Song Dynasties—Art World in Digital Paintings” offered visitors a brand new experience.

Apart from exhibitions, certain cultural and museum education activities and experience projects also captivated visitors of various age groups. During the May Day holiday, Liaoning Provincial Museum held two online live broadcasts, “Liaoning Provincial Museum Star* Research Institute Course Show: Porcelain Traveling Across the World” and “Talking About National Treasures at Liaoning Provincial Museum: Ancient Liaoning”, attracting nearly 128,000 viewers. Cultural immersion activities, such as porcelain plate painting, lacquer fan painting, “cockscomb pot” rope weaving and cultural relic-shaped brooch making, have further enlivened the museum’s high-quality cultural resources.

In addition, the cultural creative products at the museum, with their innovative designs, striking appearances and reasonable prices, enjoyed heated sales during the May Day holiday. They also frequently made appearances on television channels, including China Media Group, and Shanghai’s Dragon TV.
