On June 4, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held the twenty-seventh press conference of the series titled “Making Breakthroughs for Revitalization, and Striving for Decisive Achievements”, presenting the important plans, major tasks, and specific measures conducted by the Benxi Municipal People’s Government.
From January to April this year, Benxi’s mining and manufacturing industries saw added value increase by 12.3% and 4.5% year-on-year respectively. Among 33 major industrial categories, 15 reported year-on-year growth in added value, driving industrial added value up by 12.1%. Notably, the automotive manufacturing industry grew by 71.8%, pharmaceutical manufacturing industry grew by 14.0%, and ferrous metal mining and dressing industry rose by 13.2%.
Benxi has established special funds for scientific and technological innovation, intensified support for technology-based enterprises, and encouraged companies to increase R&D investment to enhance independent innovation capabilities. From January to April, the city registered 54 technology contracts with a total value of 450 million yuan, representing a 13.3% increase. The city conducted 45 pilot projects and added 6 new “young eagle” and “gazelle” enterprises, bringing the total to 85. Benxi plans to add 300 projects each in investment attraction reserves, negotiations, and signings throughout the year, with no fewer than 150 projects commencing construction. The city aims to attract 60 billion yuan in actual domestic investment, marking a 10% increase, and utilize 15 million US dollars in foreign investment.
Benxi continues to strengthen employment security and entrepreneurship services, creating over 10,000 new urban jobs. The city is promoting high-quality education development, with preschool education inclusiveness reaching 91% and specialized high schools accounting for 60% of the total. The city is continuously improving its elderly care service system, with comprehensive elderly care service centers covering 50% and 80% at the township and subdistrict levels respectively.
