With a forest coverage rate of nearly 50 percent, Liaoning Province abounds with a large number of forest parks with distinctive features, forming an extraordinary landscape. For example, the Meteorite Mountain National Forest Park in the suburbs of Shenyang City originates from a meteorite rain that occurred 1.9 billion years ago over Shenyang City. The “Meteorite King” in the park is 160 meters long, 50 meters wide and 42 meters high, weighing about 2 million tons, making it the largest and earliest meteorite ever found in the world. Known as the “Natural Kingdom of Flora and Fauna”, Xianren Cave National Forest Park in Zhuanghe City, Liaoning Province has thousands of species of rare birds, precious animals, exotic flowers and strange plants, among which the 600-hectare red pine forest is one of the best in Asia and even in the world.
