National Geological Park for Bird Fossil in Chaoyang, located in the west of Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province, covers a total area of 900 mu (about 148 acres). It is among few theme geological parks built at the fossil site around the world. Chaoyang Paleontological Museum in the park displays the one and only fossil specimens in the world. The museum, with the coverage of more than 20,000 square meters, is the paleontological fossil museum with the largest displaying area in the world. Among 546 pieces of rare fossils are Sinosauropteryx, the first bird in the world, Archaefructus liaoningensis Sun et al., the first flower. With a total number of 6,023 pieces of fossils, it is indeed among the top professional paleontological fossil museums in China.
