In Liaohe Estuary National Nature Reserve, birds flock beside the green reed and red beach, against the clear blue sky and white clouds. Groups of red-crowned cranes can also be seen playing with one another in reed marsh. This is the central area of Liaohe River Delta, where the Liaohe River, Daliaohe River, and Dalinghe River merge and run into the sea. Its unique geological environment also creates the boundless reed marsh and the red beach, known as a “wonder on earth”. This is also an important stopover for red-crowned cranes migrating between south and north, with more than a million migratory birds resting and breeding here every year. Today the Liaohe Estuary National Nature Reserve covering 800 square kilometers is home to 478 kinds of wildlife.
