To strengthen their marketing efforts for Malaysian tourism in China, a sales mission was held by Tourism Malaysia and Malaysia Inbound Chinese Association on March 20th in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. Nearly a hundred industry players from 52 Malaysian tourism organizations shared the latest news in the sector.

“We hope that this sales mission can provide a platform for the Malaysian tourism industry players to foster new relationships with their Chinese counterparts and encourage more Chinese tourists to visit Malaysia for its beautiful scenery, especially with the visa-free travel to Malaysia for Chinese citizens starting from December 1st last year,” an official from Tourism Malaysia said.

An official from Shenyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio and Television said, “we are looking forward to maintaining friendly cultural and tourism exchanges with Malaysia. We hope more Shenyang citizens can visit Malaysia and we welcome friends from Malaysia to feel the hustle and bustle of Shenyang and the hospitality of Shenyang people.”

It is said that China remains one of the top tourism market sources for Malaysia and contributed 1,474,114 arrivals to the country last year, a positive growth of 593.4% in comparison to the same period in 2022. Malaysia is currently targeting to receive 7 million Chinese tourist arrivals in 2024. There are currently 327 flights per week from China to Malaysia.
