On October 9, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held a press conference, presenting the preparations for the Second Vocational Skills Competition of Liaoning Province.
Themed on “A Growing Liaoning, Toward a Better Future Through Skills”, the Second Vocational Skills Competition of Liaoning Province is scheduled to open in Dalian on October 23. The competition will better communicate Liaoning’s skill development stories of industrial transformation and endeavors to pursue dreams and achievements, in multiple forms of “competition, exhibition, conference, performance, and recruitment”. With a commitment to the principle of intelligence, intensivism, fairness, justice, green, safety, openness, and shared benefits, the competition will add recruitment activities for technicians to its previous model of “competition, conference, exhibition, and performance”.
The competition gives full consideration to industrial needs by emphasizing skill-based contests. It sets up a total of 108 programs, including 94 that align with the standards of both international and national competitions and 14 with Liaoning characteristics. The competition is based on the construction needs of the four trillion-level industrial bases and 22 major industrial clusters in Liaoning, and the development needs of fostering and advancing new quality productive forces, distributing industries of the future in advance, coordinating new positions, new forms of businesses, and the rural revitalization strategy, and driving the healthcare industry.
The competition will hold a range of events, including policy promotion for technicians, keynote speeches of vocational education experts, conversations between world champions and master craftsmen, and signing ceremonies of cooperation between institutions and enterprises. As the competition serves as a platform for empowerment and commercialization, it will leverage its role of integrating resources of various sectors, building consensus, and promoting policies to jointly establish a working network where technicians put their knowledge to good use, resources are shared, and benefits are delivered to all. These efforts will accelerate the flows of skilled technicians, technologies, and capital into Liaoning.
Moreover, the competition will focus on recruiting talents for key technical positions, reinforcing the idea that “skilled individuals find good jobs; those who continually enhance their skills secure better positions; highly skilled workers enjoy great opportunities.” This initiative aims to position Liaoning as a preferred destination for technical talents and assist young technicians in finding employment.
