On October 30, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held a press conference, presenting the details of the upcoming campaigns to communicate knowledge of firefighting to the public.
November 9 this year marks the 33rd National Firefighting Day, which is themed on “Firefighting Among the Public, Life Comes First”. The province will conduct ten major initiatives, namely, inviting officials of fire and rescue administrations to live-streaming rooms, hosting related fairs, and carrying out events to disseminate firefighting knowledge. The province aims to raise public awareness of firefighting and common sense of prevention, mitigation, and relief of disasters in multiple forms such as training and drills, visits and experiences, and live-streaming on new media.
During the period, fire and rescue stations and emergency and firefighting education bases across the province will be open to the public. Fire and rescue stations will hold interaction and livestreaming activities in various forms to communicate firefighting knowledge, and invite groups and individuals from all walks of life through WeChat official accounts and Douyin, Chinese version of TikTok, to visit and experience. Local governments will host large-scale fairs themed on firefighting, where scenarios like communication of firefighting knowledge, related cultural and creative products, experience of equipment, and taking photos with firefighters will be set up. People from all walks of life are welcomed to have “immersive” experience with firefighting, learning about related knowledge through these lively activities.
Moreover, Liaoning will, in collaboration with related authorities, conduct a series of campaigns to extensively communicate the knowledge of firefighting to raise public awareness in this regard, by designing dedicated metros with the theme of firefighting, setting up firefighting-related reminders on shared bikes, running public service announcements on outdoor screens, and sending out related messages to its local people.
