2025-02-10

On February 10, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held the third press conference of the series on the economic performance of Liaoning in 2024 and the key arrangements for 2025, presenting the overall situation, major achievements, highlights, and features of the province’s agriculture and rural economy and outlining its primary plans for 2025.

In 2024, Liaoning’s agricultural and rural economy made steady progress while maintaining stability. The value-added of the primary industry increased by 4.2% year-on-year, 0.7 percentage points higher than the national average. The grain output reached 50.01 billion jin, marking the third-highest production year in history. The average yield per mu was 931.9 jin, maintaining Liaoning as the second-highest grain-producing province.

Liaoning has continued to advance the upgrading of agricultural product processing clusters. The province’s agricultural product processing clusters achieved a total revenue of 171 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7%. Agricultural processing projects with an investment of over 5 million yuan saw a total investment of 15 billion yuan, growing by 7.1%. The value-added of the agricultural byproduct processing industry above the designated size increased by 4.6% year-on-year, 2.4 percentage points higher than the national average.

Liaoning has established two national-level backbone cold chain logistics bases in agricultural producing areas, with online sales of agricultural products increasing by over 10% year-on-year. The province has also created five national-level towns with strong local specialty industries and one industrial cluster with local characteristics. Two industries—river crabs and cashmere goats—have each grown into 10-billion-yuan sectors. Furthermore, Liaoning has made coordinated efforts to enhance rural infrastructure and public services, constructing 1,056 beautiful and livable villages, as well as focusing on the development of 43 rural revitalization demonstration belts and 100 key rural tourism villages.

Next, Liaoning will focus on building itself into a leading area for modern large-scale agriculture. The province will make every effort to enhance agricultural efficiency, increase farmers’ income, and invigorate rural areas.
