On April 23, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held the fifteenth press conference of the series titled “Making Breakthroughs for Revitalization, and Striving for Decisive Achievements”, presenting measures to promote high-quality integration of cultural, sports, and tourism industries taken by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.
In the first quarter, Liaoning saw a 12.72% year-on-year increase in tourist visits and a 12.55% rise in tourism revenue. The province’s cultural and tourism market sustained its winter-sports tourism boom; the “Vibrant Spirit and Elegant Demeanor” exhibition of ancient Chinese figure paintings at the Liaoning Provincial Museum drew large numbers of non-local visitors; and the Niuheliang Archaeological Site of Hongshan Culture was listed among the first national batch of key large-scale archaeological sites. Seventeen major cultural tourism projects were added to the provincial key-projects list, with a total investment exceeding 16 billion yuan.
Looking ahead, Liaoning will focus on cultivating world-class and national-level tourism brands. It will continue to enrich its “Coastal Tour of Liaoning” tourism products to develop four-season tourism routes along the Binhai Road. The province will compile an industrial tourism map and create premium industrial study tour routes themed “The Pillars of a Great Power”. Innovative tourism experiences spanning land, sea, and air will be introduced, including expediting the resumption of the Dandong (China) – Incheon (South Korea) air route; launching “Travel with the Show” packages that blend performances with local sightseeing, and promoting “Travel with the Event” by integrating marathons, ice-and-snow sports meets, and other competitions into scenic areas.
Meanwhile, Liaoning will actively participate in key domestic and international tourism fairs, and carry out promotional campaigns in priority source markets such as Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia. To boost inbound tourism, the province will leverage the 240-hour visa-free transit policy by establishing one-stop inbound tourism service centers, adding multilingual signage and overseas bank card payment facilities to comprehensively upgrade its international service standards.
