The Liaoning Provincial Museum was recently awarded the honorary title of “Liaoning Provincial Model Collective for Ethnic Unity and Progress”. As an important platform for carrying forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture, and promoting exchanges and integration among all ethnic groups, the Liaoning Provincial Museum has always been upholding the mission of implementing the Party’s ethnic policies and fostering a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, deeply integrating these efforts into its various works, including cultural relic protection, exhibition planning, academic research, social education, and cultural creativity.

In terms of exhibition planning, the Liaoning Provincial Museum has successively launched a series of exhibitions such as “Ancient Liaoning”, “Manchu Folk Customs”, “Meet the Hongshan Culture Again”, “Archaeological Achievement of the Three-Yan Cultures”, and “Splendid Mountains and Rivers—Liao and Jin Dynasties Cultural Relics Themed Exhibition”, vividly showcasing the vibrant history of mutual learning and integration among various ethnic groups in Liaoning Province through more than 6,000 cultural relics. In the field of cultural relic protection, the museum has established a professional technical team to systematically restore and study cultural relics with distinctive ethnic characteristics, having completed the protection and restoration of more than 300 pieces (sets) of ethnic cultural relics to date.

The Liaoning Provincial Museum focuses academic research on the history of multi-ethnic integration in Liaoning. It has published monographs such as Research on Ethnic Culture in the Liaohe River Basin and Collected Essays on the History of Manchu-Han Cultural Exchanges, and also held an academic seminar on “Northeast China’s Ethnic Groups and the Chinese National Community”, providing solid theoretical support for expounding the multi-ethnic unity of the Chinese nation. As for social education, the museum has been continuously carrying out the “Ethnic Culture into Schools” activity, developing study tours such as “Decoding the Khitan Script” and “Inheriting Manchu Paper-Cutting”. Annually, it organizes over 50 study tours for primary and secondary school students, covering more than 20,000 young people from various ethnic groups, which allows the seeds of ethnic unity to take root and sprout in the hearts of young people.

The Liaoning Provincial Museum has been actively responding to the national pairing assistance deployment, focusing on the cultural needs of Nagqu, Southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region. The museum has established the Liaoning Cultural Exchange Center at Nagqu No. 2 Senior High School, spreading the seeds of civilization from the Liaohe River Basin to the snow-covered plateau. This center has now become a base for educational and cultural activities between Liaoning and Xizang. At the museum, the youth from Nagqu staged a flash mob event entitled “Songs from the Grasslands, Dances by the Liaohe River”, bringing Zang ethnic songs and dances to Liaoning, and further promoting the exchanges and integration of ethnic cultures between the two regions. To enhance the “Pomegranate Seeds, One Family” brand, the museum has also organized joint study tours, artifact drawing, and intangible cultural heritage co-creation activities for young people from Liaoning, Xinjiang, and Xizang, allowing young people of all ethnic groups to strengthen their emotional identity through jointly protecting cultural relics and inheriting culture.

The Liaoning Provincial Museum has been selected for the National Cultural Heritage Administration’s “Promoting Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture” Themed Exhibition Recommendation for five consecutive years, and has won the “Top Ten National Museum Exhibitions” Premium and Excellence awards for six consecutive years. Behind these honors lie the museum’s unremitting efforts in promoting national unity and progress. The museum will continue to dedicate itself to the cause of national unity and progress, contributing its strength to and serving as a spiritual crucible for forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation.
