On January 29, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held a themed press conference on the 2025-2026 ice and snow season, introducing Fushun City’s ice and snow resources and the concrete measures to develop Fushun into an ice and snow city.
During the 2024-2025 ice and snow season, Fushun received 91.95% more tourist visits year-on-year, while comprehensive tourism revenue rose by 118.13% year-on-year. Fushun is accelerating efforts to develop an ice and snow city by seizing major historic opportunities arising from the launch of high-speed rail services and the hosting of winter sports events, transforming its “cold resources” into a thriving “hot economy.”
This year, Fushun has comprehensively upgraded its ice and snow offerings, creating a range of winter scenes that combine visual appeal, immersive experiences, and high levels of visitor participation. At Tiannyu Mountain’s Ice River area, a creatively designed 1,500-meter forest snow-slide route offers an exhilarating downhill experience. The 2,000-meter snow-tubing course at Yulongxi Ice and Snow World has gained widespread popularity, while the Sankuaishi Ice and Snow Carnival features a variety of creative attractions, including colorful hot-air balloons that light up the winter landscape.
Fushun has carefully planned seven distinctive ice and snow tourism routes, leveraging the “speed dividend” brought by the launch of high-speed rail services and forming a full-range product system that covers one-day, two-day, and three-day itineraries. At the same time, the city is advancing its “Ice and Snow Plus” strategy by organizing a series of diverse winter-themed activities, including ice and snow electronic music events on Crescent Island, jet carving exhibitions, and Manchu-style Chinese New Year celebrations at rural farmsteads.
Taking the hosting of snow events at the 15th National Winter Games as an opportunity, Fushun continues to improve citywide ice and snow industry infrastructure, optimize the integrated tourism industry chain covering dining, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment, and continuously enhance tourism services.
