On March 17, a VR (virtual reality) large-space interactive cinema officially opened at the Liaoning Provincial Museum. Jointly launched by the museum and Vision Walk, this marks a new breakthrough in the communication form of immersive science popularization.
The VR large-space interactive cinema offers visitors a brand-new immersive experience. Using VR technology as a medium, it allows them to traverse seamlessly from physical spaces to virtual environments for natural interaction. They can enjoy an adventurous journey through different times and spaces as the digital experience of “Science Fiction + Cultural Immersion” continues to upgrade.
The VR large-space interactive films launched at the Liaoning Provincial Museum include Alice in Wonderland, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Lunar Landing, and The Everlasting Glorious Tang Dynasty, covering a range of themes from fairy tales to adventure and archaeology.
The science popularization film Lunar Landing is particularly noteworthy. By breaking the boundaries of time and space, it uses VR to allow visitors to experience firsthand the moon’s magnificent scenery and geological wonders. Wearing a dedicated head-mounted display, visitors can walk around to explore the “lunar scene”, while performing rich gesture interactions such as touching and grasping. This makes the “moonwalk” feel both realistic and dreamlike, offering a truly immersive on-the-moon experience.
Visitors experiencing the VR large-space interactive cinema can independently choose different VR films at the same time and location. They can enjoy their own adventures without any mutual interference, each finding their own unique fun.
