Over the past three years, as the Liaoning Provincial Museum’s exhibitions have gained wider recognition, its cultural and creative products have achieved a leapfrog development from “cultural relic replication” to “lifestyle aesthetics”, with a continuously enriched product range and the emergence of new business forms. The Liaoning Provincial Museum, the first museum built after the People’s Republic of China, boasts a collection of nearly 120,000 pieces (sets), particularly unique in its paintings and calligraphy works from the Jin, Tang, Song, and Yuan dynasties, kesi (Chinese silk tapestry technique) and embroidery works from the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, jade artifacts from the Hongshan Culture, and bronze artifacts from the Shang and Zhou dynasties. This rich collection provides a solid foundation for the development of cultural and creative products.

In recent years, the Liaoning Provincial Museum’s cultural and creative products have been successfully exported to 12 countries, including Japan, Australia, Singapore, and Canada. Simultaneously, the museum has actively participated in international exhibitions and exchanges with its cultural and creative products, visiting countries such as the US, Spain, South Korea, Japan multiple times to promote the mutual empowerment of cultural and creative products and international exhibitions. From its own venue to the world, the Liaoning Provincial Museum has built cultural bridges across the globe, spreading Liaoning’s cultural heritage far and wide, and making its cultural and creative products a shining symbol of Liaoning’s cultural image.

Since the establishment of the Liaoning Museum Cultural and Creative Alliance in February this year, the Liaoning Provincial Museum, as the first rotating chair unit of the alliance, has leveraged its own advantages in cultural and creative development and resources to actively organize alliance activities. On May 8, the Liaoning Provincial Museum and the alliance jointly hosted the training course on high-quality development of cultural and creative industries in museums and cultural institutions, bringing together nearly 180 industry experts and key personnel from both inside and outside Liaoning Province. Renowned museum experts from across the country were invited to conduct specialized training on the cultural and creative operation of small and medium-sized museums, museum cultural and creative 4.0, and the interpretation of Liaoning’s policies for the high-quality development of museum cultural and creative products. This has strengthened the foundation of cultural and creative talents in the province, and helped Liaoning’s distinctive cultural and creative IPs to go global and upgrade collaboratively.

During this year’s International Museum Day, entrusted by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the Liaoning Museum Cultural and Creative Alliance actively participated in the preparation work for the exhibition centered on “Museums Uniting a Divided World”, the theme of the 2026 International Museum Day. The exhibition gathered 46 alliance institutions from within the province to showcase their diverse cultural and creative achievements. Meanwhile, the museum also invited key cultural and museum institutions from outside the province, such as the National Museum of China and the Suzhou Museum, to participate with their representative cultural and creative products, aiming to establish a high-quality platform for cross-regional cultural and creative exchanges and dialogues, and learn from advanced experiences to improve the quality and efficiency of its own cultural and creative endeavors.

In the future, the Liaoning Provincial Museum will continue to play a demonstration and leading role as a pilot unit, deeply exploring Liaoning’s profound cultural heritage, continuously upgrading the quality of its cultural and creative products, and broadening its overseas cultural outreach channels. It aims to let the millennia-old charm of Liaoning grow through connections and blossom through integration, constantly writing Liaoning’s chapter in connecting the world and preserving civilization via the medium of cultural and creative products.
