Iron Anchor 1956 Cultural and Creative Park is located at No.47 Dadong Road, Dadong District, Shenyang, Liaoning Province. Its predecessor was Shenyang Spinnery and the trademark “Iron Anchor” was registered in 1971. In 1990s, the Shenyang Spinnery suffered from downward pressure on its business and was closed in 2002.
In 2016, the old workshops and trademark of the spinnery were utilized for the construction of cultural and creative park. The inheritance of the former name “Iron Anchor” was meant to pass on the culture imprint in the industrial era. It also represented that the anchor of the closed factory was weighed once again, shining with new culture value.
The renovated cultural and creative park has made bold innovation while maintaining its former industrial features. A LOFT building complex with salient features of Northeast China is built on the land of more than 5,000 square meters. The buildings in the park are mainly built with red bricks, together with walls of dark gray, red, and vintage green. The ironworks with unique design can be seen everywhere. Small and delicate courtyards are surrounded by residential areas, full of hustle and bustle accumulated in past decades.
The planning for cultural and creative park includes various sectors such as fashionable collection store, handcraft shop, art workshop, aesthetic lifestyle center, snack shop, cafe, bar, art training institution, cultural and creative company, and personalized business. It is a cultural and tourist commercial center integrating culture experience, entertainment, and commercial office. The art workshops, buyer’s shops, cafes, and pubs are everywhere, providing a chance for the youth to practice their new lifestyle of “drinking coffee in the morning and alcohol in the evening”.
The lifestyle marked by the interpersonal interaction is the basic and unique culture here at the park where the elderly trace back to their glory in old days and the younger generation pursue their passion and dream.
