Liaoning to Maintain Grain Yield at Approximately 25 Billion Kilograms
2024-03-15

On March 15, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held the fourth press conference of the series titled “Making Decisive Efforts to Develop the Economy by Focusing on Eight Critical Tasks”, presenting the province’s major plans, tasks, and specific measures aimed at promoting rural vitalization in Liaoning this year.

In 2024, Liaoning will spare no efforts to enhance its comprehensive grain production capacity, with a steadfast commitment to maintaining a stable grain sowing area of over 53.03 million mu and achieving a grain yield of approximately 25 billion kilograms. To achieve this goal, Liaoning is set to embark on a project to increase the grain yield for individual crops, with each eligible entity receiving a subsidy of up to 300,000 yuan. Furthermore, protected agricultural areas with favorable conditions are taking the lead in supporting the promotion of automated equipment, thus elevating the digitization standard of facility agriculture. Notably, Liaoning intends to establish four national-level marine ranch demonstration zones, expediting the development of integrated offshore aquaculture platforms in Dalian, Dandong, Huludao, and other regions, while completing the construction of the Dalian (Liaoyu) National Offshore Fishery Base.

In addition, Liaoning plans to optimize its specialty industries by creating 41 advantageous zones dedicated to fostering the advancement of 25 high-quality distinctive industries in the initial stage. Moreover, it aims to establish exemplary villages and towns centered around featured industries such as “Strawberry Villages” and “Grape Towns”, while actively developing nationally recognized characteristic industrial clusters in the fields of “protected fruits and vegetables” and “Chinese medicinal materials”. As part of these efforts, Liaoning will introduce six provincial-level regional public brands of agricultural products and 30 well-known agricultural product brands.

Currently, Liaoning takes pride in its four national-level historical and cultural towns, one national-level historical and cultural village, 45 national-level traditional villages, and two demonstration counties that showcase concentrated and comprehensive protection and utilization of national-level traditional villages. Furthermore, it is home to 17 provincial-level historical and cultural towns, 26 provincial-level historical and cultural villages, and 45 provincial-level traditional villages. In 2024, Liaoning will further enhance the protection and utilization of traditional villages by systematically integrating the work of cultural protection with initiatives such as the Design Expertise Outreach in Rural Areas, the Construction of Beautiful and Livable Villages, and the Development of Small Cities and Towns. By coordinating the preservation and utilization of historical resources in towns and villages, Liaoning aims to contribute to the development of rural tourism, cultural creativity, and other distinctive industries. The goal is to revitalize traditional villages and infuse them with renewed vitality.
