On April 25, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held the fifth press conference of the series on the economic performance of Liaoning in the first quarter of 2024, presenting a comprehensive overview, major achievements, distinctive features, and highlights of the development of culture and tourism industry in Liaoning.
In the first quarter, the province received 171 million visits, representing a year-on-year increase of 68.2%. Tourism revenue reached 190.21 billion yuan, a growth of 89.4% compared to the same period last year, surpassing the national average growth rate. Liaoning has promoted 8 premium ice and snow hot spring tourism routes, and its popular ice and snow hot spring experience has gained nationwide attention. Furthermore, the province continued to foster national and provincial-level tourist resorts as well as 5A-rated tourist attractions (the highest rating for Chinese scenic spots). Notably, the Wunyu Mountain scenic spot in Huanren Manchu Autonomous County, Benxi City, successfully obtained the national 5A rating. Liaoning also planned and launched themed boutique tourist routes, such as “Liaoning ‘Chinese Dragon Culture’ Study Tour”, and “Charm of Rural Scenery in Four Seasons”, which were selected as national boutique tourist routes.
Moreover, Liaoning implemented innovative measures to stimulate cultural and tourism consumption. It promoted the establishment of physical stores selling “Liaoning Souvenirs” in tourist attractions and resorts, and has successfully set up such a store at Shenyang Taoxian International Airport. During the first quarter, the province’s museums received a total of 7.545 million visits, a year-on-year increase of 140.9%. The popularity of museums has contributed to the emergence of a new wave of cultural and tourism consumption, known as the “Museum Fever”.
During the upcoming Labor Day Holiday, Liaoning will host a variety of colorful cultural, sports, and travel activities, including the Qianshan Pear Blossom Festival in Anshan City, the “C” Strategy Series of events for boosting tourism, the Yalu River (Estuary) Peach Blossom Festival in Dandong City, Promotion on the magnificent scene of flying flocks of birds in Yingkou City, and Liaohe River Wetland Hiking Activity in Panjin City, all of which are expected to attract tourists’ attention. At the same time, favorable policies related to inbound and outbound tourism have injected new vitality into the tourism market. Liaoning will further optimize payment services and enhance payment convenience for inbound tourists in tourist attractions and other tourism-related venues, meeting the diverse needs of various groups, including the elderly and foreign tourists.
