On October 16, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held a press conference, presenting the efforts made by local public security organs in special actions such as the “Summer Campaign” and the “Security Escort”.
From June 24 to September 30 this year, the Ministry of Public Security planned and launched a nationwide summer campaign to crack down on illegal and criminal activities. Liaoning saw a decrease of 2.14% in illegal and criminal cases compared with the previous period. Of this total, criminal cases fell by 0.42% compared with the previous period, and public security cases by 2.32%. The number of solved criminal cases increased by 17.33% compared with the last period. Liaoning has thus maintained overall stability in public security.
During this period, Liaoning strengthened its public security management on all fronts. Transport departments at all levels across the province concentrated on such three main fields as urban areas, rural areas, and expressways, and continued to make concerted efforts to combat drunk driving and criminal behaviors occurring on urban roads and highways. As a result, the number of traffic accidents and fatalities fell by 6.82% and 15.94% year on year, respectively. At the same time, the province refined the management of large-scale activities and scenic spots, ensuring the security and the stable and orderly operations of 1,310 activities including Mid-Autumn Festival gala, concerts, marathons, the Preliminary Competition of AFC Asian Qualified-Road of the FIFA World Cup 2026, and music festivals.
Moreover, Liaoning improved the security management over campus in an all-round manner. It investigated 28 public security offenses relating to schools, identified and addressed over 9,500 potential dangers on campus, tackled more than 2,300 security trouble spots, and guided schools to conduct over 16,000 security drills.
