Liaoning’s High-Quality Audiovisual Programs Promote the International Communication of Chinese Stories
2025-01-03

On January 3, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held a press conference, introducing the province’s achievements in innovating and improving its radio, television, and network audiovisual programs in 2024.

In 2024, the creation and production of high-quality audiovisual programs demonstrated steady progress with notable improvements in quality. The satellite channel and all terrestrial channels of Liaoning Radio and Television Station, the main channels of municipal radio and television stations across the province, and 80% of county-level radio and television stations have achieved high-definition broadcasting. Ultra-high-definition technology has been widely applied in the production of TV dramas, documentaries, and short videos, which aims to continue to enhance the viewing experience with superior quality for the audience. Liaoning has embraced the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation by leveraging artificial intelligence technologies, such as generative video technology, to empower audiovisual content creation. The effort has resulted in the launch of high-quality videos like Liaoning is My Home and The Treasure Box, which deeply integrate cultural creativity with AI technologies.

Liaoning has systematically advanced the international communication of its high-quality audiovisual programs. The documentary The Peopleless Village was selected as one of the five shortlisted works for the “Audio-Video China, Global Screening” initiative. Productions such as A Date with Dalian and Travelers on the Silk Road were broadcast globally via CGTN, the China Global Television Network. The foreign-language version of the documentary Stories Between Human and Nature aired on South Korea’s OBS TV, while the documentary Beiwang (Northward Journey) was simultaneously showcased on the overseas accounts of Liaoning Radio and Television Station.

Moreover, Liaoning has promoted integrated communication through its all-media system by effectively utilizing the province-wide new media joint coordination mechanism in radio and television and the “One Circle, One Belt, and Two Zones” audiovisual association, which has established a “1+4” new media matrix. The province has continuously optimized project approval and filing processes by coordinating standards, creative processes, and market trends. With over 100 key programs planned, including TV drama, radio plays, documentaries, variety shows, animated films, web series, and short videos, the implementation rate of program topics and the proportion of high-quality productions have thus both seen further improvement.
