On June 5, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held the twenty-eighth press conference of the series titled “Making Breakthroughs for Revitalization, and Striving for Decisive Achievements”, presenting the major tasks and specific measures conducted by the Dandong Municipal People’s Government.
In the first quarter, Dandong’s regional GDP grew by 5.8%, exceeding both national and provincial averages. From January to April, among 14 major economic indicators, 9 surpassed the provincial average and 10 ranked among the top 7 in the province. From January to May, Dandong signed 268 projects worth over 20 million yuan each, with domestic investment inflows increasing by 43.8%, completing 55.6% of the annual target. Additionally, Dandong was successfully selected as a pilot city for SME digital transformation in the province, with investment in five emerging industries including next-generation digital technologies and new materials growing by 3.4%.
Dandong is committed to building a “pilot demonstration zone for high-quality integrated development of culture, sports, and tourism”, hosting nearly 300 events including the “Ice and Snow Hot Springs Strawberry Festival” and the “Ten Thousand People Pickleball Tournament”. 4 overnight high-speed trains linking Dandong with Shenyang and Dalian were added. Dandong also facilitated the operation resumption of Dandong–Incheon international passenger and cargo liner “Oriental Pearl”.
Dandong has introduced 67 specific measures to boost foreign trade, actively seeking to implement “direct import” and “distribution transport” models for border trade. Small-scale cross-border trade increased by 144%, while border trade volume grew by 40%. The city organized over 100 enterprises to participate in more than 20 domestic and international exhibitions in Russia, Germany, and other countries. Cross-border e-commerce trade volume increased by 11.2%, and the city’s total foreign trade import and export volume grew by 19.4%, ranking second in the province.
