This summer vacation, the dance drama National Treasures of Liaoning: Selected Edition, a joint production of the Liaoning Song and Dance Ensemble and the Liaoning Provincial Museum, will continue its resident performance at the museum’s Multi-Functional Hall. Last year, the dance drama went viral on social media, garnering over ten million views. From July 25 to August 16, it will be restaged at the Liaoning Provincial Museum.

As a large-scale stage play sponsored by the 2025 China National Arts Fund, Antique Beauty: National Treasures of Liaoning has received high praise since its premiere. The stage play toured Liaoning, Fujian and Guangdong provinces, and was performed 42 times at the Liaoning Provincial Museum’s Small Theater during last year’s summer vacation and National Day holiday, attracting more than 40,000 visitors. Multiple box office records were shattered, and tickets were in high demand.

The most fascinating highlight of this dance drama is that many of the museum’s precious treasures “come to life” on stage in anthropomorphic forms, including national treasures such as Court Ladies Adorning Their Hair with Flowers, Auspicious Cranes, Nymph of the Luohe River, Tree-Shaped Gold Shimmering Headdress, and Yuan Dynasty Blue-and-White Octagonal Jar with Pine, Bamboo, and Plum Blossom Patterns. Artists from the Liaoning Song and Dance Ensemble will showcase the unique charm of these precious artifacts from the Liaoning Provincial Museum with romantic dance, creating a cross-disciplinary fusion of Liaoning’s cultural heritage and arts.
