The optical phenomenon of pinhole imaging was first recorded by Mozi and his disciples, which forms the theoretical basis for later photography. It points out the principle that light travels in straight lines, predating Newton’s conclusion by over 2,000 years. This jade carving work, based on Mozi, is currently housed in the Huasheng Hall of the Tang Shuai Art Museum in Anshan, Liaoning Province.
